Measuring Intelligence
Intelligence I is proportional to experience X and the ability to recall
that experience so that
I

substituting

and X gives

which

This equation says that intelligence is directly proportional to
conscious experience and psychic maturity (which, in turn, is also a function of
conscious experience). As stated earlier, intelligence is proportional to the
height of our phase space; the maximum length of the ego-Self axis or
I %
C + UP
At psychic puberty, '=1 and C=UP. If we
assume that this relationship still holds at mid-life where the ego-Self axis is
normally a maximum, then by substitution we have
2C %

or
C%, and also UP%F
This suggests that the energy available to the ego from psychic puberty
to mid-life is directly proportional to its conscious experience up to that
point.
